Amanda is Gathering Nuts for the WInter

First of all i would like to lay a ground rule here....this isnt the most manly thing to be doing, writing on a blog, so please, i beg any females out there to not pass this on to their husbands that i am writing on the blog. But i figured that for the sake of my wife (and marriage) i needed to write a little something about our recent adventure.

On Friday morning at 9:00am my lovely wife went under the knife! For her it was as tramatic as loosing a limb or something. She was very nervous to say the least! The doctor gave us our instructions, and i watched amanda slowly slip into a sleep. The next 45 minutes was a little nerve wracking for me. I was very nervous for my wife and hoped that all would go well. And it did! The nurse took me back to see my little squirrell all bandaged up, and ready to go!

Now for those of you who have been around someone that has recently woke up from being put under, you know that things can be rather funny. Well amanda wanted to make sure that the nurse knew that you could NOT...."dwink twu a twa!" In other words she said, "You can not drink through a straw!" She repeated that a couple of times to the doctor and nurses that came through. But after they gave me the low down on what to do, we headed out of that place!

Carrying amanda to the car was another issue. She did come out of there a couple ounces lighter with the extraction of her teeth, but it seems that it was an adventure to get her to the car!

We stopped by Steak N' Shake to get her 2 chocolate milk shakes, and then Meijers to get her pain meds.

That day was filled with lots of events...changing bloody gause, slurping on pudding, throwing up, and just being as good to my baby as i could. I was happy to be with her, and to take care of her during that time. She was a real trooper and went through alot. I am very proud of her for how tough and strong she was during the whole thing. She did great!

Day two seemed to be alot better. We woke up a couple of times that night to get more ice, and pain meds, but other than that she slept like a rock! Or atleast I did! Amanda returned to her rather jubilant self, just a little more puffy than usual. She sports now some great squirrel cheeks that i think will come in handy this winter.

The experience has taught me alot as a husband and as her best friend. She is doing great now on day 3 with still a little pain, and some swelling. But other than that I have her back to household duties that she is in charge of. I wasnt going to let her vacation that long!!! But i love her and i am proud of her for enduring this surgery.
