Here we are at the Cancun, Mexico airport!!!!! It was about 85 or 90 degrees and lots and lots of humidity! We were so so excited to arrive and to get our vacation started!

Chris, Cassie and I in the car on the way to our hotel.

Our gorgeous hotel and resort!

Here's the pool. If you look at the pillars behind us, that's the area where there's a pool side bar that you can swim up to and sit on stools in the water. It was sweet. We had all the Strawberry Dacqueries "sin alchol" (without alcohol) we could get our hands on!

More of our hotel!

When we were in the hotel waiting to go somewhere, there was a wedding with a mariachi band. While they were walking out, Chris asked if we could pay them to sing us a song. This was the highlight of the vacation for Chris. They were pretty amazing. The singer had a great voice.

There were some crazy looking tribal dancers at the plaza across the street. They were pretty interesting to watch.

We went shopping on 5th avenue where they have a bunch of shopping and little stores with different souvenirs, purses, blankets, potery and all kinds of goods. It seemed like they had the same stuff over and over again. You just had to find who would give you the cheapest price. The store owners were relentless in their sales tactics and thought they could take advantage of you because you were a tourist. One guy said he would give us a painted plate for $120. I said I wouldn't pay more than $30 for it. We got it for $37. Another store owner said to me, "Come heeere." I didn't even look at him and said, "No thanks." he said, "Coome HEEEEEEEEre." I again said, "No." Then he said, "I coming to you!". It was pretty funny.

Here's one of the bathrooms. I couldn't believe how emaculate they were. This was a bathroom in a basement off of the street where we shopped.

We visited Tulum, one of the only ancient walled Mayan cities (kind of like in the Book of Mormon). All around there were Iguanas, just hanging out. We probably saw 15 of them in Tulum.

While we visited, we had about 40 minutes of free time. It was about 110 degrees with 70% humidity so I at least wanted to dip in the water. Chris's parents and sister left the tour early to seek some cool air.

Chris bought a scarf to wear around his head to catch his sweat since it was so hot outside. He wiped it with his hand one time and looked at his fingers to find that they were blue!! He hadn't rinsed his scarf since he bought it and was afraid to take it off. When he did he found that his head had turned colors!

We found this hut bar we found while looking for the bathroom in Tulum. When we found the bathroom, there was a guy with a table posted outside with a sign: 5 pesos. They wanted to charge us to go to the bathroom. We decided to hold it....it was only 35 cents, but it was a matter of principle. I can squat in the bushes for free if I want to, thank you very much!

There was a guy selling coconuts and so I decided to try one. The juice was actually pretty gross. I took a couple drinks and dumped it out. It was a cool experience though!

Finally in the air conditioned bus! On the way home it started raining and the rain was coming into the bus! It was streaming down the window and puddling on the floor. I guess the busses aren't as rain proof in Mexico!

My newest favorite treat! A Starbucks chocolate cream frapuccino sin cafe (without coffe..it's basically a glorified chocolate shake). I think I had four in the 6 days of our trip!

We were scheduled to go home on Wednesday. We flew to Detroit and there learned about bad storms that had been going on back home. Our flight was at 10:05 but were delayed. While delayed, the storms came up our way and a confirmed tornado had touched down very close to the airport. They sent all the passengers into a tunnel downstairs. We were there for only about 15 minutes and then could go back to our terminals. After midnight, they announced that the flight was officially cancelled and they didn't have any hotels to send us to. The next available until Friday. We found our own hotel, took a taxi, and rented a car the next day to drive home. It was pretty tiring. Not to mention we couldn't get our luggage until the next day at home. It was pretty crazy!
We had a great time in Cancun. Some other things that we did were: jet skiing, kyakhing, snorkeling (in the ocean where we saw sea turtles and fish and in a fresh water undergroung cave! It was a little cold but you could see for 200 feet! It was amazing!), Mike and Cassie went parasailing, and we ate a TON! I just have one suggestion for you if you ever go to Mexico DON'T DRINK THE WATER!!!!! It will give you trouble for a couple days and it's not fun...trust me. But it's worth it! We had an AMAZING time!
