More Mitchell Milestones

Things Mitchell can do now:
- grab things and bring them to his mouth. The other day I put him on the grass as I was weeding and he pulled out some grass and tried to eat it.....at 3 1/2 months when he doesn't eat anything but milk
- he rubs his eyes when he's tired
- he gets startled by things. His eyes get really big and he pouts his lip out and cries..unless I intervene and reassure him. Don't worry, Mitchell, it's just the hand dryer...or kids screaming..or a siren...etc. That's such a great feeling when he doesn't cry just because Mom is there and he feels better. Love that.
- Loves to play with my hair or put his hands in my mouth.
- For about a month now, he'll stand if you're holding his hands. I think it's pretty impressive that he can support his weight on his legs. I don't know if that is in fact normal for babies his age but for now let's just say he's incredibly ahead in development.
- LOVES bath time. He kicks so fast and so much! He still cries when we're dressing him afterwards, but not as bad.
- nurses now only 10-15 mins before a bottle. Sad..but at least we're still doing it.
I started making baby food for when he starts eating solids. I bought a butternut squash, cooked it, blended it, put it in a blender, and froze it in ice cube trays. Super easy! Then my Mom noticed that the green beans in our garden were big and ready to be picked! We got a whole big mixing bowl worth of beans so I made that up into some baby food as well. I must admit I feel pretty self sufficient with that one.
Mitchell got his first sickness. He'd been having some wierd symptoms for a week or two but I thought it might just be teething until he woke up with a stuffy nose and a fever of 100. I called the Dr, went in and found out that he had a sinus infection. Poor thing! She perscribed some antibiotics and I basically held him all day. He'd been having trouble napping. He'd sleep for 40 minutes to an hour and wake up crying. And it was like the crying woke him up, not vice versa. So I held him while he slept and it paid off because he was out for 2 hours. He's getting a lot better.
All in all, I just love my little man. Chris has been gone all week at scout camp and it really hasn't been bad at all. My parents came over twice and everything was great! I am so lucky that I enjoy motherhood so much. I know that some women really struggle with it. I'm also so grateful that I get to stay home with him. He's the best and I get to spend so much time with him! I love it!!
