It's a BOY!!!!!

I felt like it was a boy the whole time. A couple days after I found out I was pregnant, I told Chris that I thought it was a boy and I was right!! Maybe I do have a little bit of mother's intuition. Who knows.

We had an ultrasound on Wednesday with a wonderfully sweet ultrasound tech at St. Joe Hospital. Seeing the baby for the first time was amazing. Chris told me not to bawl my eyes out and I'm proud to say that I didn't! I just let a few little tears run out of my eye. At one point, the baby put his hand up, opened and closed his fingers and put it back down. He waved at us! ha The tech measured the head and said, "Oh you're going to have one smart baby." Meaning the head was big. That's a Johnson male trait that I was afraid that the baby might inherit (only for the sake of labor...heaven help me). She measured the femur and asked if being tall ran in the family. I've always been known for my lanky bird legs. Hopefully his are long, but not too bird-like. She thought the nose looked more like mine, but after looking at the 4D picture, I think it looks more rounded like Chris's button nose. Who knows. We'll just have to wait and see.
We told our tech that we didn't want her to tell us the gender of the baby but that we wanted her to write it down on a piece of paper. We thought it would be fun to include our family in on finding out the sex of the baby. We took the paper to a bakery and had them put pink filling in cupcakes if the paper said girl and blue filling if it was a boy and then we'd have a party where we would all bite into the cupcakes and find out together what the baby was.

We got the piece of paper and Chris stuck it right inside his pocket. He's the more trustworthy spouse when it comes to secrets. I wasn't too anxious about finding out until the next day, the day of the party. My parents and brother and his wife and family came over for pizza and of course that special dessert. Chris's parents and sister tried to Skype us but unfortunately it didn't work out so they had to just be on speakerphone. We all unwrapped our cupcakes and I looked over at Chris and his faulty cupcake. His had a crack in it so I actually saw the blue peeking out before everyone took a bite. Chris of course was so excited and was the first to yell, "It's a boy!!!!". It was such a great moment and I'm so glad my family was there (and on speakerphone) to enjoy it together. Now.....what to name him???
